Information for Visiting Students

If you will be visiting the Chicago area next summer, consider attending Chicago State University to earn additional graduate credits to transfer back to your home institution. CSU is regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, North Central Association. Our teacher preparation programs are accredited by NCATE.

Visiting students pay a $25, nonrefundable processing fee; provide proof of a bachelor's degree; and complete a one-page application. The form can be downloaded from this website or sent via email upon request.

During advanced and regular registration cycles, new students are encouraged to visit the Graduate School. Actual registration times and dates are available from the Registrar's website. Web registration is available for newly admitted students who applied for admission at least two weeks in advance of registration. Registration pin numbers can be obtained by calling the Graduate School.

Location

We are easily accessible from several main arteries in the city of Chicago. The campus is less than 1 mile from the Dan Ryan Expressway (I-94) and the Bishop Ford (I-394). Multiple CTA and PACE buses service the campus from all directions on 24/7 schedules. The South Shore Metra Line is in walking distance from the campus.

Transcripts

For a nominal fee of $5.00, official transcripts are available Monday - Friday, from 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM. The Registrar's Office is open late on Thursdays until 7:00 PM. Visit them online at http://www.csu.edu/recordsandregistration/.

University Library

Opening fall 2006, the new public, academic library will be a four-story signature building at the head of its campus, the most prominent edifice upon entering through the main gates on 95th Street. The new library will feature automated document retrieval and sorting; open spaces with a varieity of mini-environments from quiet study to public space, loads of meeting spaces, conference and group study, spacious lobbies and reception areas, cafe and public meeting space, an information mall and a 24/7 study hall and computer lab. Interested in teaching as a career?

Off-Campus Courses and Distance Learning

Prospective Degree Candidates

If you are interested in earning a master's degree, a graduate certificate or post-master's certification at CSU beginning fall/summer 2005, we strongly encourage you to begin the application process now. The deadlines for application for admission are March 15th for the fall semester and October 15th for the spring semester.
