About TRIO
In 1965, the U.S. Congress established a series of programs to aid potential first-generation, low-income Americans in entering and graduating postsecondary education under Title IV of the Higher Education Act. TRIO programs help students overcome class, social and cultural barriers to higher education by providing a myriad of services, from middle school through p>ost-graduate. Chicago State University is one of over 1,000 higher education institutions and agencies offering federal TRIO programs, funded by the U.S. Department of Education. Currently, CSU offers two TRIO programs, Upward Bound and Educational Opportunity Center. Both UB and EOC are dedicated to providing access to postsecondary education opportunities for high school students and adults.
