On July 10, 2008, the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) announced that it will suspend processing of 2008-09 IIA (Silas Purnell Illinois Incentive for Access Program) Awards as of July 12, 2008. For further information please visit ISAC's Suspension of IIA Award Announcements on their College Zone web site.  ISAC further announced, on July 10, 2008, that "If current trends continue, ISAC anticipates suspending the announcement of 2008-09 MAP grants in late July." MAP UPDATE: Today, July 22, 2008, ISAC announced .  .  .  "Due to current trends in the number of eligible applicants and expected payment claim rates, the anticipated appropriations for the 2008-09 Monetary Award Program (MAP) are fully committed. As a result, ISAC will suspend the announcement of MAP grants for all students whose initial 2008-09 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is received by the Central Processing System (CPS) on or after July 26 , 2008."

TEACH Grant:  Beginning with the 2008-2009 academic year, current and prospective teachers may qualify for the new federal Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant Program. We are in the process of reviewing the final regulations for this program, issued by the U.S. Department of Education, and anticipate starting award processing by mid-August. We will shortly publish additional information on this web page as well as announce the actual date, when it has been determined, that we will begin processing this new grant program. Please check back periodically.
